Mark Walbrun
Mark Walbrun, the Senior Consultant of Rail and Transit at Quandel Consultants, is an accomplished railway engineer working on projects throughout North America. He has planned, designed, and managed construction of railroad main lines, yards, stations, and multimodal facilities. He successfully completed major station developments at Chicago Union Station, New York Penn Station, Miami, Omaha, Tampa, Los Angeles, and Denver. His background includes both Civil and Electrical Engineering that are valuable in Positive Train Control and other signal improvement projects. His freight experience includes eight intermodal yards, one of them the largest in the country. He also managed high speed rail design and environmental planning for the Texas DOT TOPRS project as well as station planning for Wisconsin DOT. Mark is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois and Texas and former President of the predecessor to AREMA, chair of the Shared Use committee for the Transportation Research Board, and VP/Director at the International Air Rail Organization. Mark is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Transportation Planning and graduate work in Transportation Planning, Railroad Track Design, and Railroad Signal Design.
