Illinois State Rail Plan
A comprehensive State Rail Plan was completed for the State of Illinois in 2012 that formulates a vision for the role of passenger and freight rail services in Illinois and describes the long-range policies, strategies, goals, and investments needed to meet the vision in the future. The State Rail Plan acts as a mechanism by which the State can seek Federal funding for rail improvements and as a blueprint for Illinois’ rail future.
As part of the planning effort for the State Rail Plan, Quandel developed all passenger rail-related elements of the Plan in accordance with federal guidelines for rail plans included in the Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act of 2008 (PRIIA). Elements of the Plan included the rail vision and goals, existing passenger rail services and planned passenger rail improvements, rail safety and security programs, and proposed investment policies and programs for rail.
