Case Description

Project Description

The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District’s existing service provides an essential transportation link connecting Northwestern Indiana to Chicago, IL. Quandel provided planning, engineering, and operations expertise for the West Lake Corridor which is a proposed 9 mile extension of NICTD’s current service along the Indiana – Illinois state line to Dyer, IN. The additional passenger rail service between Chicago and Northwest Indiana increases accessibility and mobility in rush hour periods and economic development in Lake County, IN.

Services Provided

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industrys standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
  • Planning Quandel developed alignment designs for various proposed route alternatives. Using the developed alignment designs, with designed cross-sections, Quandel developed a proposed right of way used to evaluate the line’s impact on surrounding property.
  • Operations Quandel developed service schedules and timetables for the West Lake Corridor’s operations. Computer modeling software was utilized to simulate existing operations and assess the impacts of additional passenger trains operating on existing networks.
