Project Description
The Chicago to Quad Cities – Grade Crossing Design project is part of an engineering study for the Illinois Department of Transportation to establish Passenger Rail Service between Chicago and Iowa City. The Grade Crossing Design portion of the project investigates the recommended improvements to provide safe at-grade roadway and rail crossings. Investigations included horizontal and vertical geometric studies, the addition and upgrade of crossing warning devices, the type materials to be used at the crossings, and the interconnection of traffic signals to crossing gates.
